About the Book : The current trend of educational research presents a mixed scenario of research expectation, researchers’ competency and research quality. Many universities in India have started Pre-Ph.D. tests to search for competent researchers, concurrently, with SLET and NET, and tests for JRF. Do all these tests assure and ensure competent researchers? Over and above these the UGC has imposed Ph.D. course work and Academic Performance Indicators. No intensive research is required to test the validity of these. But, all this is acceptable, because, the intent is fair and genuine. Can we do away with this vicious polygon, rather, circle and search for some fool-proof strategies to approach the genuine competent, dedicated, simple, honest and cultured scholars? The present volume on 'Mapping and Management of Researchers’ Competency has four sub-themes viz. Status of Extant Research, Planning of Educational Research, and Administration of Educational Research: What Next? Scholars from different parts of the country have expressed their opinion on these sub-themes. Although no definite answer could be arrived at the basic issues but, the guidelines provided by them will be helpful to the researchers, teacher educators, university education departments, research organizations, higher education authorities and policy-makers.
