Our eco friendly yoga mats are woven in handlooms by the traditional weavers of North-East India (Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh and Tripura). It is handmade in India where yoga has its origins.

Water hyacinth grows abundantly in the region and is a weed that destroys local eco-system by blocking sunlight, preventing oxygen exchange by other aquatic plants and affecting pisciculture. This aquatic plant (locally called pani meteka) was considered a waste and a bit of a nuisance as it has a propensity to spread at an alarming rate in water bodies and cause stilting. For years it was either cleared up or left unused. This long neglected plant is on its way to become an economic blessing as a booming industry in North East states as it has been found to be useful in making different hand-crafted items like mats, baskets and bags. Using water hyacinth for making utility items helps to keep balance in eco-system.
