The Mud Frying Tawa, made from natural clay, is a traditional Indian cooking pan used for chapatis and frying food. Its design and material offer health benefits by reducing oil usage and adding essential nutrients to food.

Benefits

  • Natural and Chemical-Free: Made from fresh clay without chemicals.
  • Porous Nature: Promotes even heat and moisture circulation, ideal for slow cooking.
  • Nutrient-Rich: Adds calcium, phosphorus, iron, magnesium, and sulfur to food.
  • Alkaline Properties: Neutralizes acidic foods, maintaining healthy pH balance.
  • Heat Retention: Keeps food warm longer without repeated reheating.

Usage

  • Compatible with gas stoves, microwaves, and traditional chulhas.
  • Avoid heating the pot empty; add oil first when cooking.

How to Clean:

You can use mild soap to clean terracotta products. However, avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners, as they can damage the natural surface of the terracotta.  Salt or ash can be used as a non-toxic alternative to chemical cleaners. Sprinkle salt/ash into the pot and scour it using a scouring pad. Always rinse thoroughly and allow the product to dry completely before storing.

If any mold forms during storage:

·       Mix equal parts water and white vinegar or cooking soda (baking soda).

·       Place the pot in the solution and bring it to a boil.

·       Boil the pot for 20 minutes. This will help loosen the mold and disinfect the pot.

·        After boiling, use a brush to scrub the pot thoroughly, focusing on areas with mold.

·       Rinse the pot with clean water to remove any remaining vinegar or soda solution.

·        Allow the pot to dry completely in a well-ventilated area or under direct sunlight.

This method should effectively remove mold and help keep your terracotta pots clean and ready for use.

Storage:

After washing, make sure to store your earthenware in dry and well-ventilated areas. This will eliminate the risk of mold growth inside the pot.

If bacterial growth is of concern, dry the pots in Sun light or dry pots in a 200°F oven for 30 minutes before storing in a cool, dry place.
