This framed A4 size Bengal Patachitra painting of Mahakali - the Goddess Kali symbolizes the supremacy of Nature over all forms of life.

According to Hindu mythology, Goddess Kali is the first of the 10 incarnations of Goddess Durga, who killed demons Shambhu and Nishambhu but stepped on her husband Lord Shiva as she lost control on the battlefield. When Kali was about to destroy the entire universe Shiva devised a plan to save the world. He lay down in the path of the rampaging Kali. Accidentally, Kali stepped on Shiva and soon She realised Her mistake. It is then Her tongue immediately came out of embarrassment and She calmed down. She came back to Her original form and the destruction was stopped. 

The detailing in Her figure brings in character and strength to the painting. The colors and intricate work classify the painting as a splendid effort by the artist. The jewelleries and ornamentation on the body and garments of the figures are created by fine white lines.
