Surrogacy is a social act of highest level of service, which is scientific and brims with goodwill. Surrogacy or surrogate means substitute in medical parlance, the term surrogacy mean using of a substitute mother in the place of the natural mother. In Latin also “Surrogates” means a substitute i.e. a person appointed to act in the place of another. As per the Black’s Law Dictionary surrogacy means the process of carrying and delivering a child for another person. The New Encyclopedia Britannica defines surrogacy as a practice in which a woman bears a child for a couple unable to produce children in the usual way. According to Warnock Report surrogacy is the practice whereby one woman carries a child for another with the intension that the child should be handed over after birth. A person’s opinion based on a lack of information should not harm others. Though the medicine is prescribed for treatment of a disorder, in the same way surrogacy is also a method of treatment. First of all, it is necessary to understand the meaning of surrogacy and types of surrogacy. Let’s start with the definition of surrogacy. A relationship in which one woman bears and gives birth to a child for a person or a couple who then adopts or takes legal custody of the child, also called mothering by proxy
