About the Book : This book on Student Politics and Voting Behaviour is a study of concrete political behavior and action of students of Jawaharlal Nehru University. For the first time the process of politicizations in a student community reputed with high political awareness has been empirically grappled with. It departs from the usual 'Voting behaviour' studies by its emphasis on the 'extra ballot box' Political participation,. It draws upon concrete instances of agitational politics on the campus to show the remifications of the board politicization such as proximity to the corridors of power, existence of student wings of national political parties and the educational system etc. have been studies to explain the politicization of a student body. The whole analysis has been conducted not from the standpoints of an 'objective-roof-top' academician but on the basis of actual participation in the campus, the author himself being a student of the University.

About the Author : S.K. Pattnaik is a Senior Research Scholar at the Zakir Hussain Center for Educational Studies, School of Social Science, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. At present he is working on "Student Alienation in Indian Universities". He has contributed several research articles to learned journals in India and abroad.
