About the Book : Neither Capitalism nor Marxism has been able to solve human problems arising out of liberalization, privatization and globalization. The whole world is in search of an alternative. The Gandhian alternative can provide solutions to contemporary problems such as unemployment, unequal distribution of wealth, violation of human rights, terrorism and poverty, if implemented in totality. Gandhian alternative in various forms is echoed in contemporary debates not just in India but also throughout the world. About the Author : S.P. Chaube received his M.A. from Banaras and M. Ed. from Allahabad. For doing research for a doctorate degree, Dr. Chaube was appointed in 1950 a fellow by the University of Indiana, Bloomington, U.S.A. which conferred on him the degree of Doctor of Education in 1952. As a mark of his contributions in education in India, Dr. Chaube was decorated with the G.J. Watumull Memorial Award in Education in 1963 by a board of international judges. Lucknow University conferred on him its D. Litt. Degree in 1965. He was also awarded by this University the Banerji Research Prize in 1965 for producing the best research work of the year. After teaching at the University of Lucknow, Dr. Chaube joined Gorakhpur University from where he retired as a Professor of Education & Dean, Faculty of Education in 1979. He has more than 50 books to his credit both in Hindi and English under these two discipline.
