About the Book : Awareness of human rights both in their exercise and violation is an important factor in all areas of living today. It is, therefore, imperative to inculcate this awareness at the high school stage itself. The focus of human rights education is on 'norms' and 'values' as well as the 'skills' to attain them. The present research work aims to teach human rights concepts with a view of enriching the cognitive, affective and psycho-motor domains of students and learners. Finally, it will help to assess the impact of the approaches and strategies applied as well as the attitudinal changes observed. This book would be of immense value to young and old alike in addition to the average layman.
About the Author : A. Selvan, (b. 1970) did his M.Ed., M.Phil., and Ph.D. in Human Rights Education from Alagappa University, Karaikudi, Tamil Nadu in 2000 and 2003 respectively. He is now Lecturer at the same University in the Department of Education having done a stint as Guest Lecturer in Government College of Education, Pudukottai and Parasakthi College of Education, Madurai. He is co-author of Perspectives of Human Rights Education and has contributed several papers at national, state level seminars and conferences. In addition he has outlined a human rights education curriculum for B.Ed. trainees. Ten M.Ed. and 22 M.Phil. scholars are doing research under his guidance. His specialized areas are History of Education and Human Rights Education.
