About the Book : A Workshop on Palaeodimate and Archaeology of Gujarat and Rajasthan was held at the Physical Research Laboratory, Ahmedabad, India from 23rd to 26th February, 1976 for workers in different disciplines interested in the Quaternary environment and archaeology. This volume, divided into six parts, contains the proceedings of the Workshop vvhich was attended by about sixty experts from all over India.The first part deals with new theories and techniques of climatic changes. The second part is devotee1 to human settlement and palaeoenvi-ronment. Parts three and four deal with palaeoenvironment of Gujarat and Rajasthan. Problem of Miliolites is the subject of the fifth part. Details of recent environmental studies in Ladakh, Central India and the South are provided in the sixth part. This is the first and only volume embodying a multi-disciplinary approach and presents an integrated study of archaeology and environment of western India. About Author : D.P. Agrawal is at present the Head of the Radiocarbon Laboratory at the Physical Research Laboratory, Ahmedabad. Dr. Agrawal's contributions in the fields of prehistoric chronology and metal technology have been widely acclaimed by archaeologists all over the world. He has authored a large number of learned papers besides three books: The Copper Bronze Age in India, Prehistoric Chronology and Radiocarbon Dating in India and Radiocarbon and Indian Archaeology.The author of Bibliography of the Harappen Culture, B. M. PANDE is a well known writer whose articles on archaeology have brought the subject within the easy reach of Hindi readership. He is also the Assistant Editor of Puratattva, a bulletin published by the Indian Archaeological Society.Mr. Pande is at present Superin-tending Archaeologist in the Archaeological Survey of India, New Delhi.
