About the Book : Central Asia, the central region of the continent of Asia, is, and has always been, its crucial part. There have been the movements of peoples and ideas and marauding armies across it. The location of the states of contemporary West Central Asia between China, Russia and the West is also strategically significant. Central Asia thus is unique in Asia. Inspite of this, there is no proper history of Central Asia from the ancient time to the present. Central Asia: An Outline History is the first attempt of its kind. The author hopes it will help the writing of the proper history of Central Asia, and fulfil its lack. There is so much need for it. About Author : Ram Rahul, a native of Delhi, is an eminent scholar of Central Asia. He had his entire education in Delhi. He also studied in the United States of America (USA) in the early 1950s. He retired from Jawaharlal Nehru University as Professor of Central Asian Studies. He also taught the history and politics of South and Central Asia in the USA in 1985-86. Ram Rahul is the first Indian academic of Central Asia. He has studied Central Asia since 1946. He has also studied Inner Asia, especially Afghanistan and Mongolia. He has traveled extensively on geographical and anthropological expeditions in the Himalaya in the south and Siberia in the north and widely from Korea to Turkey. He has written extensively on Central Asia.
