Surendra Verma (born 1941) is a prominent Hindi litterateur and playwright. Born in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, he is celebrated for his reinterpretation of Indian myths, history, and social themes in modern dramatic forms. His acclaimed debut play, "Surya Ki Antim Kiran Se Surya Ki Pahli Kiran Tak" (From the Sun's Last Ray to the Sun's First Ray), premiered in 1972 and has been translated into multiple Indian languages. He has a long association with the National School of Drama and has received numerous honors, including the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award (1993), Sahitya Akademi Award (1996) for his novel "Mujhe Chand Chahiye," and the Vyas Samman (2016). His collection, "मेरे प्रिय नाटक: My Favourite Plays," showcases some of his theatrical works.
