श्रीमत्सायणाचार्य (Sayanacharya)

श्रीमत्सायणाचार्य (Sayanacharya)

Sayanacharya (died 1387) served as minister and later prime minister at the court of King Bukka Raya I of the Vijayanagara Empire. He composed extensive Sanskrit bhashyas on nearly all Vedic texts, including the Krishna Yajurveda Taittiriya Samhita, under the royal patronage of the Vijayanagara kings. His Vedic commentaries, gathered under the title Vedartha Prakasha, remain foundational reference works in Sanskrit scholarship and are preserved in critical editions such as those of Anandashram, Pune.
