Volga

Volga, the pen name of Popuri Lalita Kumari, is a distinguished Telugu poet and writer renowned for her feminist perspective. She received the Sahitya Akademi Award in 2015 for her short story collection Vimukta Kadha Samputi, translated into English as The Liberation of Sita. Her works, including The Sickle & The Scalpel, have been instrumental in introducing feminist discourse to Telugu literature. Beyond writing, Volga has served as a professor and as the Executive Chairperson and a founder member of Asmita Resource Centre for Women.
