V. Krishnaswami Aiyar compiles and retells stories from the Sanskrit Puranas that illuminate the role of dharma in the lives of men and women in ancient India. A former Judge of the Madras High Court and later a Member of the Governor's Executive Council, he brought his knowledge of classical Indian texts to a wider English-reading audience through this collection published by Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan.
