Utpaladeva (c. 900–950 CE) was a Shaiva tantric philosopher and poet from Kashmir, a disciple of Somananda and a major influence on Abhinavagupta. He authored treatises within the Pratyabhijna school of Kashmir Shaivism and composed devotional hymns to Shiva. His commentary on the Shiva Drishti — the foundational text composed by his teacher Somananda — survives in part and represents an important stage in the development of Shaivite non-dual philosophy.
