Umar Khayyam

Umar Khayyam

Omar Khayyam (1048–1131 CE) was a Persian polymath, recognized during his lifetime as an astronomer, mathematician, and philosopher. Born in Nishapur (modern-day Iran), he made significant contributions to algebra, developed the Jalali calendar, and established an astronomical observatory. While his fame in the West largely stems from the poetic collection known as The Rubaiyat, which was famously translated into English by Edward FitzGerald in the 19th century, contemporary scholars note that Khayyam's poetic output was often secondary to his scientific pursuits. آئینه ایام: منظوم اردو ترجمه: رباعیات عمر خیام (Ainah-i-Ayyam: Versified Translation into Urdu: Rubaiyat-i-Umar Khayyam) presents an Urdu versified translation of his renowned quatrains, offering his philosophical reflections on love, mortality, and existence to a new audience.
