Udai Narain Tiwari

Udai Narain Tiwari examines the linguistic history of Bhojpuri in his monograph The Origin and Development of Bhojpuri, first published by the Asiatic Society in 1960 as part of their Monograph Series. The work, undertaken at the encouragement of Professor Suniti Kumar Chatterji, provides a scientific account of the dialect's emergence from earlier Indo-Aryan stages and has remained a standard reference in Bhojpuri linguistics.
