Dr. Sudarshan Kumar Sharma completed his M.A. in Sanskrit from Punjab University in 1958 and earned his doctorate, before joining academic service in 1961. He taught Sanskrit at various colleges in Chandigarh, Bhatinda, and Jalandhar, and retired as principal of Government College, Fazika, Punjab. He translated the Brhatkatha-sloka-samgraha of Buddhasvamin — one of the surviving Sanskrit redactions of the ancient narrative collection Brhatkatha — into English, published by Parimal Publications. He also translated other classical Sanskrit works including the Udayasundari Katha and the Vayu Mahapurana.
