Shyam Sundar Das (1875–1945) was a towering figure in Hindi literature and one of the founding members of the Nagari Pracharini Sabha, Varanasi. He played a pivotal role in the standardization and promotion of the Hindi language and Devanagari script. A dedicated scholar, he undertook extensive work in discovering and documenting Hindi manuscripts, detailed in his multi-volume work हस्तलिखित हिंदी ग्रंथो की (खोज का विवरण) (Annual Report on The Search For Hindi Manuscripts For The Year 1900, 1901 and 1902).
