Swami Abhedananda

Swami Abhedananda (1866–1939), born Kaliprasad Chandra, was a direct disciple of Ramakrishna Paramahamsa and a spiritual brother of Swami Vivekananda. Born in Calcutta, he exhibited an intense religious tendency from boyhood and sought a guru for spiritual training, eventually meeting Sri Ramakrishna at Dakshineswar. Swami Abhedananda was sent by Swami Vivekananda to the West in 1897 to head the Vedanta Society of New York, where he lectured on Vedanta philosophy and religion for 25 years. He founded the Ramakrishna Vedanta Math in Calcutta (now Kolkata) in 1923 and established a branch in Darjeeling in 1924. A prolific author, his works include "True Psychology," "Science of Psychic Phenomena," "Religion Revelation And God," and "Human Affection and Divine Love," alongside Bengali translations like "যোগদার্শন ও যোগসাধনা: Yoga Darshana and Yoga Sadhana" and "সর্বজনীন ধর্ম ও বেদান্ত: Sarvajaneen Dharma O Vedanta."
