Sundara Ramaswamy

Sundara Ramaswamy writes across Tamil fiction, poetry, short stories, and criticism with a voice that reshaped post-Independence Tamil literature. His novels include the landmark Oru Puliyamarathin Kathai (1966) and J.J. Sila Kuripugal, alongside குழந்தைகள் பெண்கள் ஆண்கள் (Kuzhanthaigal Penkal Aangal, 1995), his final novel. He authored over eighty short stories and a body of poetry under the penname Pasuvayya. In 1987 he founded the literary quarterly Kalachuvadu, through which he shaped contemporary Tamil literary discourse. He received the Iyal Award from The Tamil Literary Garden in 2001 and the Katha Chudamani Award in 2004.
