Sumana Roy writes fiction, poetry, and essays in English. Her debut non-fiction work, How I Became a Tree (2017), was shortlisted for the Shakti Bhatt Prize. My Mother's Lover and Other Stories is a collection of fourteen short stories exploring unusual psychological and social predicaments. Her poems and essays have been published in Granta, The Caravan, Guernica, the Los Angeles Review of Books, and Prairie Schooner, among other journals.
