Shrilal Shukla (1925–2011) was a celebrated Hindi writer and satirist. A civil servant by profession, he was renowned for his incisive and humorous critiques of the political and social life of post-independence rural India. His most famous work, the satirical novel Raag Darbari (1968), is considered a classic of modern Indian literature. For his contributions, he was honored with numerous awards, including the Sahitya Akademi Award and the Jnanpith Award, India's highest literary honor.
