Shri Jivanandavidyasagar (born 1844), son of the scholar Taranath Tarkavachaspati, was among the most active publishers of Sanskrit texts in nineteenth-century Bengal. He edited and brought out the Prayaschitta Viveka (प्रायश्र्चित्तविवेक:), a classical Sanskrit treatise on expiation and atonement under dharmashastra, in an 1893 edition. His work helped preserve and disseminate rare Sanskrit scholastic texts at a time of renewed interest in classical Indian learning.
