Shaman Hatley is a Sanskritist and historian of Indian religions, specializing in goddess cults, tantric rituals, and the history of yoga in medieval India. He earned his PhD from the University of Pennsylvania in 2007, with his dissertation focusing on the Brahmayāmalatantra. Hatley is the author of "The Brahmayamala Tantra or Picumata - Chapter 1-2, 39-40 and 83 (Volume 1)," a critical edition and study of this early Śaiva Tantra, which is a key text in understanding early medieval Indian tantric traditions and goddess worship.
