Sekhar Bandyopadhyay (born 1952) is an Emeritus Professor of History at Victoria University of Wellington and a Fellow of the Royal Society Te Apārangi. His research focuses on the social and political history of modern India with special reference to Bengal, including work on the Dalit castes of the region. In Bengal: Rethinking History he edits a collection of historiographical essays that present a range of perspectives on how Bengal's history has been written and interpreted.
