Satprem (born Bernard Enginger, 1923–2007) was a French writer who, after wartime experience in the French Resistance and incarceration in German concentration camps, came to Pondicherry and became a close disciple of Sri Aurobindo and The Mother. He recorded and compiled the thirteen-volume Mother's Agenda, an extensive record of his conversations with The Mother, and wrote Sri Aurobindo, or the Adventure of Consciousness, widely regarded as an introductory text on Sri Aurobindo's thought. My Burning Heart presents interviews conducted by French journalist Frédéric de Towarnicki at Pondicherry in 1980, in which Satprem reflects on his life, his relationship with The Mother, and the possibility of a new human evolution.
