Saroj Kumar Chaudhuri examines the academic exchange that carried Sanskrit scholarship from India to China and Japan during the first millennium CE. He taught Japanese language at the School of Foreign Languages, Ministry of Defence, Government of India, and at the College of Business Administration, Aichi Gakusen University in Japan. He also served as a visiting professor at the Institute for the Study of Languages and Cultures of Asia and Africa in Tokyo. His work documents how Indian monks transmitted Sanskrit linguistic knowledge to Chinese and Japanese scholars.
