S. M. Katre

S. M. Katre was an eminent Indian linguist and Sanskrit scholar, known for his extensive work on the history and structure of Indian languages. He served as the Director of the Deccan College Postgraduate and Research Institute in Pune. Katre's research includes detailed studies on the evolution of modern Indian languages, notably "The Formation of Konkani," and comprehensive works on Panini's grammar, such as his multi-volume "Dictionary of Panini (In Roman)" and "Dictionary of Panini: Ganapatha."
