Romesh Gunesekera

Romesh Gunesekera was born in Sri Lanka and has long lived in London. His novel Reef was shortlisted for the Booker Prize in 1994. Much of his fiction is set in Ceylon, the country of his boyhood, and Suncatcher is no exception: it follows a quiet Colombo teenager whose world is transformed by a magnetic and reckless friend against the backdrop of 1960s political upheaval, tracing the costs of privilege and the fragility of early friendship.
