Ramchandra Shukla

Ram Chandra Shukla (1884–1941), widely known as Acharya Shukla, was a towering figure in Hindi literature, celebrated as an Indian historian, essayist, critic, and scholar. He is credited with codifying the history of Hindi literature in a scientific system, most notably through his seminal work 'Hindi Sahitya Ka Itihaas'. He served as the Head of the Hindi Department at Banaras Hindu University and was a prolific editor. His critical editions include जायसी ग्रंथावली (Jayasi Granthawali), which features the works of Jayasi, and the influential essay collection चिंतामणि (Chintamani), available in multiple volumes. He also penned biographical and critical studies on literary giants such as गोस्वामी तुलसीदास (Goswami Tulsidas) and सूरदास (Surdas).
