Pullela Sriram Chandra

Pullela Sriramachandrudu (1927–2016) was a distinguished Indian scholar, writer, and lexicographer with mastery over both Sanskrit and Telugu. A former Head of the Department of Sanskrit at Osmania University, he authored over 180 works, including original creative pieces, scholarly commentaries, and translations. He was awarded the Sahitya Akademi Award for Sanskrit in 2003 and the Padma Shri, India's fourth-highest civilian honor, in 2011 for his contributions to literature and education. His prolific output includes detailed studies of classical poets in works like భవభూతి వాగ్విభూతి (Bhavabhuti Vagvibhuti), essays on Sanskrit literary theory in निबन्धभास्करः (Nibandh Bhaskar), and commentaries on classics such as his నైషధీయచరితామృతం (Naishadiya Charita Amritam).
