Paritosh Sen (1918–2008) was a painter, illustrator, and writer who worked across oil, watercolour, acrylic, and etching over decades of Indian art practice. Fire and Other Images, published by Tulika Books, brings together a selection of his prose pieces — originally written in Bengali and rendered into English — evoking boyhood in Dhaka, the death of his parents, and encounters with Brancusi and Picasso. The book is illustrated with pencil sketches drawn by Sen for the volume.
