Parashuram Lakshman Vaidya

Parashuram Lakshman Vaidya (1891–1978), often known as P. L. Vaidya, was a preeminent Indian scholar of Sanskrit, Pali, and Prakrit literature. He served as the general editor of the Buddhist Sanskrit Texts series, producing critical editions of numerous foundational Mahayana Buddhist works. Vaidya is especially recognized for his monumental contribution to the Critical Edition of the Mahabharata, including the compilation of महाभारतस्थ- श्लोक पाद सूची (The Pratika- Index of The Mahabharata), a comprehensive index of verse-quarters across six volumes, published by the Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute.
