Nishant Zaidi & Alok Bhalla

Nishat Zaidi, Professor in the Department of English at Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, and Alok Bhalla, who has published extensively on literature, translation, and politics, jointly translated Day and Dastan: Two Novellas by Intizar Husain, published by Niyogi Books. The translations present two contrasting works: Day, a realistic meditation on the trauma of Partition and the dissolution of a feudal household, and Dastan, a lyrical narrative drawing on classical tale-telling traditions to evoke the world of 1857.
