White as Milk and Rice, her second book published by Penguin, records the ways of life of six tribes — the Halakkis, Kanjars, Kurumbas, Marias, Khasis, and Konyaks — as they confront a hyper-globalised world. Her first book, The Lost Generation, chronicled India's dying professions.
