Nabaneeta Dev Sen (1938–2019) was a distinguished Indian writer and academic. A professor of comparative literature at Jadavpur University, Kolkata, she authored over 80 books in Bengali, spanning poetry, novels, short stories, plays, literary criticism, essays, travelogues, humor, translations, and children's literature. Her prolific output includes her first novel, Ami Anupam (I, Anupam), published in 1976. She was recognized with the Padma Shri in 2000 and the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1999 for her significant contributions to literature. Dev Sen’s work, such as The Parrot Green Saree and I, Anupam, often explored a wide array of social, political, and psychological themes, marked by her spontaneous style and unique expression.
