Murari Gupta’s first short story collection, Mogari, is rooted in the folk life of Rajasthan. Published in 2018 with the support of the Rajasthan Sahitya Academy, several stories from this collection garnered considerable esteem within literary circles. Among the new generation of writers, his stories were widely discussed for presenting Rajasthan’s folk life in a fresh and contemporary narrative style.
His 2021 travelogue, Chalo Kisi Lambe Safar Pe Chalen, documents his journeys across India. Gupta presents his travels in a lively fashion, where the journeys are not merely geographical but also cultural explorations of the places and people. His ability to connect directly with people and translate those experiences into a riveting narrative earned the travelogue wide acclaim.
In 2023, his first novel, Sugandha: Ek Cine Sundari Ki Trasad Katha, was published. Woven around the life of Sugandha, a celebrated actress of South Indian and Hindi cinema, the novel gained significant popularity among young readers and emerged as a notable achievement in contemporary fiction.
The Neural Cage is his second novel—a scientific and socio-political thriller conceived for an international readership, inspired by his deep interest in science and global politics.
