Muhammad Amin Shakeeb

Muhammad Amin Shakeeb (1940–2018) was a researcher and educationist from Sopore in North Kashmir who specialised in Kashmiri Sufi literature. He travelled village to village to collect the poetry of Rahim Seab Sopori, a classical Kashmiri Sufi poet, compiling it first in Urdu and later producing an English-language monograph published by Sahitya Akademi as part of the Makers of Indian Literature series. His research on Kashmiri Sufi poets was also published by the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages.
