Masud Husain

Masud Husain Khan (1919–2010) was an eminent Indian linguist and Urdu scholar who served as the first Professor Emeritus in Social Sciences at Aligarh Muslim University and as Vice-Chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia. A recipient of the Sahitya Akademi Award among other honours, he was the author of landmark works on the history of the Urdu language. His monograph on Mohammad Quli Qutb Shah, the sixteenth-century Deccani Sultan-poet, was published in Sahitya Akademi's Makers of Indian Literature series.
