M. M. T. Ganapati Sastri

Mahamahopadhyaya T. Ganapati Sastri (1860–1926) was a renowned Sanskrit scholar, editor, and the first Curator of the Oriental Manuscripts Library (now University of Kerala Manuscripts Library) in Trivandrum. Born in Taruvai, Tamil Nadu, he made a monumental contribution to Sanskrit scholarship by discovering and publishing the lost plays of Bhasa, an event considered a landmark in 20th-century Sanskrit literary scholarship, for which he received an honorary Ph.D. from the University of Tübingen. He was also instrumental in editing the Trivandrum Sanskrit Series, which brought to light numerous rare and previously unpublished Sanskrit works. Ganapati Sastri edited and published The Isanasivagurudevapaddhati, a set of four books, and The Aryamanjusrimulakalpa, a significant ancient text in three volumes.
