Mahamahopadhyaya Gadadhara Bhattacharya (c. 1604–1709) was one of the most brilliant and influential philosophers of the Navya-Nyāya school of Indian logic and epistemology. Hailing from Navadvipa in Bengal, his analytical prowess and intricate arguments earned him the title 'Gadādhari', which now refers to his famous commentary on the Tattvacintāmaṇi. His independent treatise, विषयतावादः (Viṣayatāvādaḥ), is a profound analysis of 'aboutness' or epistemic intentionality, a core concept in Indian logic concerning the relationship between cognition and its object.
