Kuldip Salil

Kuldip Salil (b. 1938) is an accomplished Indian poet, scholar, and translator of Hindi, Urdu, and English. He has published seven volumes of his own poetry and is recognized for his significant contributions to translating classical Urdu poetry into both Hindi and English. His translations include selected works of eminent poets such as Faraz, Iqbal, Sahir Ludhianvi, and Ghalib, with notable titles like "Best of Faraz," "Best of Iqbal," "Best of Sahir," and "Diwan-e-Ghalib." Salil has received numerous awards, including the Sahitya Akademi Award, and his work aims to make rich Urdu literary heritage accessible to a wider audience.
