Kanaiyalal Munshi

Kanaiyalal Maneklal Munshi (1887–1971) was a lawyer, Indian independence movement activist, politician, and one of the most celebrated writers in Gujarati literature. He founded Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in 1938 and served as a member of India's Constituent Assembly and later as governor of Uttar Pradesh. His historical novel जय सोमनाथ (Jay Somnath) reimagines the era of Sultan Mahmud of Ghazni's attack on the Somnath temple, weaving a story of Gujarati heroism and devotion.
