Kalikinkar Datta

Kalikinkar Datta (1905–1982) was a historian and academic administrator who completed his doctorate at the University of Calcutta, where he trained in history. His major works cover topics in Bengal's political and social history, including Alivardi Khan and His Times, Shah Alam II and the East India Company, and the history of the freedom movement in Bihar. The Santal Insurrection of 1855–57, first published by the University of Calcutta in 1940, remains a foundational study of this pivotal tribal uprising against colonial authority in the Bengal Presidency.
