Kalidasa, often revered as Mahakavi, is widely considered the greatest poet and dramatist in Sanskrit literature. Flourishing around the 4th-5th century CE, his works primarily draw from the Puranas and the Vedas, encompassing themes of love, nature, and heroism. Among his most celebrated epics is महाकवि कालिदास प्रणीतम् कुमारसंभवमहाकाव्यम् (Kumarasambhava), which narrates the birth of Kartikeya, the son of Shiva and Parvati.
