K. G. Sankara Pillai

K. G. Sankara Pillai (born 1948) is an Indian poet and literary critic known for his contributions to modern Malayalam poetry. He gained prominence in the 1970s and has received both the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award in 1998 and the Central Sahitya Akademi Award in 2002 for his poetry collection, K. G. Sankara Pillayude Kavithakal 1969-1996. He is also an accomplished translator, editor of literary journals, and a commentator on culture. His work, including "Trees of Kochi and Other Poems," often engages with contemporary issues while maintaining poetic excellence.
