Jivananda Vidyasagara Bhattacharya earned the title Vidyasagara from the Government Sanskrit College of Calcutta in 1870 and went on to edit, comment on, and publish around two hundred Sanskrit texts spanning Vedic literature, Mimamsa, Nyaya, Sankhya, and kavya. His edition of Jaimineyan Nyayamala Vistara (जैमनीयन्यायमालाविस्तर:) reflects his broad command of classical Sanskrit philosophical literature.
