Jerry Pinto (born 1966) is an acclaimed Indian poet, novelist, short story writer, translator, and journalist based in Mumbai. He writes in English and is known for his deeply empathetic and humorous style. His works include the poetry collection Asylum and Other Poems and the award-winning biography Helen: The Life and Times of an H-Bomb. His debut novel, Em and the Big Hoom, earned him the Sahitya Akademi Award in 2016 and the Windham-Campbell Prize. Pinto has also translated several books from Marathi to English. His work A Book of Light (When a Loved One Has a Different Mind) explores the complexities of living with mental illness within a family, while he also translated Sane Guruji Shyamchi Aai into an English novel.
