Jeet Thayil (born 1959) is an acclaimed Indian poet, novelist, librettist, musician, and literary editor. He was educated in Bombay, Hong Kong, and New York, and worked as a journalist for over two decades before focusing on fiction. Thayil is the author of several poetry collections, including These Errors Are Correct (2008), for which he received the Sahitya Akademi Award for English in 2012. His debut novel, Narcopolis (2012), was shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize and won the DSC Prize for South Asian Literature, forming the first part of his "Bombay Trilogy." His works often explore themes of addiction, memory, faith, and marginality.
